Omega has been battling Rolex for so long now. When an Omega watch was worn by James Bond (instead of the Rolex that the spy wore in the original books by Ian Fleming), it was considered a great marketing coup by the company. Now the company has decided that George Clooney is the epitome of masculine style — which he is, of course.



In this photo George Clooney learns how to create an Omega timepiece, with the help of an actual watchmaker at the Nicolas G. Hayek Center in Tokyo on Sunday. No doubt after this intense learning session, George is now able to create his own luxury timepieces whenever he wants.

We simply can’t get along on trips without our portable DVD player. But the kind of player you might buy for yourself on a long European flight and the kind you would buy to keep your kids entertained in the back of the SUV, on a plane or in a waiting room might be two different things. For one thing, the really high-end DVD players are very expensive, and some of them aren’t that durable. We had the opportunity to test drive Best Buy’s Insignia 10.2″ 16:9 Widescreen LCD Portable DVD Player, which retails for under $200 — as of today, it’s on sale for only $189.99 at Best Buy.



This DVD player has a cool-looking rubberized shell that makes it more durable if it’s dropped. It also has a swivel screen, 3 headphone jacks so up to three people can watch a movie together and very easy to use controls. A responsible 6 year-old could operate the DVD player. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery that comes with the DVD player will last up to 4 hours of playback time, but we always buy an extra battery for trips. Included in the box are an A/V cable, car power adapter, AC/DC adapter and remote. The player weighs 2.6 lbs and will play the following media: DVD, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 and JPEG. The picture was clear, the sound was great with our own noise-canceling headphones and we absolutely love the widescreen.



This is a good, inexpensive unit that would be perfect for a student heading off to college, family trips or as a treat for yourself to use when your significant other simply refuses to watch your new DVD sets of Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal.

Yikes, Good old Paris Hilton is seen walking with a pink laptop bag. Its a Sumo laptop sleeve and its so ladylike pink. Well, at least she’s not carrying around her cute doggy in it. She could be killing that doggy if it was so. The sleeve goes for $34.99 and allows safe laptop protection. It doesn’t have a strap, but it’s great for covering your laptop and slipping into a larger purse, carry on or even on its own as Paris is seen using it.

The Xbox 360 HD DVD player is already priced interestingly reasonable and has managed to attract the attention of some of its most ferocious critics. Things has just gotten better. The Xbox 360 HD DVD player just got priced slashed to $179. The pricing will be in US only and it will include 5 free HD DVD movies if the purchase is made between 1st of August and 30th September. It will be the same period 300 and Heroes goes on sale in HD DVD format. The free titles might not be any of these as it will most probably be the films which Toshiba considers popular. The price cut made the Xbox 360 even more appealing to consumers as an easily hacked, USB player for HD movies on the computer. Xbox 360 owners will be in for some treat with downloadable stuff to promote the add on as well as the movie 300 which will be available on Xbox Live Video Marketplace beginning August 14th.

Ah, the trials and tribulations of potty training! But when successful potty training has been achieved, what a glorious day it is for all adults. Usually when one trains a little boy, one finds a stepstool so that the little darling can make his way to the toilet bowl and proceed with his business. But a new study which involved 400 children says that teaching little boys to tinkle while standing up from the getgo results in much faster potty training. Enter the Peter Potty, a mini-urinal that little boys can use without a stepstool and without sitting down.



“Potty training can be one of the most challenging milestones for
parents in their child’s development. Allowing boys to stand can
significantly reduce this frustration by providing boys with a relaxed,
easy method for success.” stated Dr. Julius Goepp, a pediatrician with
Pediatric Planet in Rochester.



“It is common today to wait until a child ‘opts-in’ to start training. The research shows that boys are more
receptive to starting when given an opportunity to stand,” stated Scott
Rote, Vice President of Visionaire Products, Inc., a manufacturer of potty
training products. In addition, the research shows that boys who train with
this method take less time to reach success then boys who sit.



The research said that when little boys train while standing up they can more easily copy a behavior as the adult shows them what to do. The makers of the Peter Potty say that this device can speed up potty training in boys by 6 - 15 months, which will save in diaper costs.
